LADY IN RED

This is another one of my artworks which I just painted from my mind in a monochrome of Vermilion. She was not inspired by anyone or anything. I gave this as a gift to my cousin, Smirna Smit, and after framing she managed to sell it to a guy for R2000 (SA Rands). I was impressed.

MEDIUM: Acrylic Paint on Canvas.
SIZE: 297 x 420 mm (A3).
YEAR: 2009

  1. This painting was much more valuable than just R2000. By selling this piece I hope I inspired, not only the artist to continue with his outstanding work, but also the public not to hesitate in the quality of his artwork. This painting was not just another painting. The "Lady in Red" was actually communicating to different individuals coming into the art gallery, radiating them a story about her life. She was in high command, and after a phone call from the gallery, having a customer placing his offer on the table, I called Tjaart and we both decided, together, to let her go.

I believe that Tjaart Pretorius will go from strength to strength and that his artwork will be in high command soon by all art lovers once the word has spread.

  2. You have most definitely inspired me to do all of those things.

Maybe THE LADY IN RED does have a history I unconsciously do not know about, but who knows? Maybe I will discover it in the near future.

    Thank you very much!
